State of JavaScript TypeScript 2025 Results
State of JS 2025 results: TypeScript dominates, Vite and Vitest keep growing, and VoidZero and TanStack tools look promising.

TypeScript has effectively beaten JavaScript: the vast majority of developers write their code in TS. And that makes sense, because it is incredibly convenient today. Server-side runtimes (Node.js, Bun, Deno) can run TypeScript almost natively, without the pain or extra steps.
The tooling results are telling, too. Vite has come very close to Webpack and surpassed it in downloads long ago. Vitest continues to grow steadily, and interest in Rolldown is very high. It looks like 2026 could be the year of VoidZero tools.
Among meta-frameworks, Next.js still leads, but satisfaction with it is dropping noticeably. Against that backdrop, TanStack’s solutions look increasingly promising.
My prediction for 2026: the most interesting combination is Vite 8 + Rolldown and a framework from TanStack.
