Nectar: a WebAssembly language for fans of extreme performance ⚡
Nectar is a Rust-based language compiling to WebAssembly, trading developer experience for minimal size and speed.

Well, who was complaining that the modern web had become too slow and bloated?
Meet Nectar, a new compiled programming language written in Rust that compiles directly to WebAssembly.
The project’s main idea is to squeeze out maximum speed with minimum overhead.
What is under the hood:
- 📦 Zero dependencies & minimal size: No heavy runtimes, virtual machines or monstrous bundles. The output is clean, lightweight WASM.
- 🚀 Incredible speed: Code runs at near-native speed inside the browser’s WASM engine.
- 🛠 Terrible DX: You will have to forget the familiar comforts of modern frontend development, convenient package ecosystems and familiar reactive abstractions.
What is it for?
Nobody is suggesting replacing the traditional DOM and page layouts with this, of course. But Nectar is a potentially decent solution when you need to bring a very heavy, isolated widget or microservice to a website (a complex calculator, mathematical visualization or media/graphics processing) and deliver it at lightning speed without bloating the JS bundle.
